Milk production and milk processing have been traditionally linked to the Bismark region for a long period of time. This was a good enough reason for the Uelzena Group in the early 1990s to invest in the building of the then most modern cheese dairy in Europe.
Today the Altmark-Käserei, with its attached butter making facility is the largest employer in this region. More than 100 employees have found secure and highly qualified jobs at this location in production, maintenance and engineering, warehouse logistics, quality assurance and administration.
And the variety of tasks continues to grow: An increasing export share and the planned new building to expand the capacity of the cheese dairy are creating exciting new challenges. We want to invest in the future of our company and the safeguarding of jobs in the long-term, while creating prospects for the next generation. Many of our employees have strong roots in the region and appreciate the friendly atmosphere and the personal interaction. People know each other; they meet at the gym, the shopping center or at events. One central value for our employees is this strong solidarity. Many of our employees have been with us for a very long time – some of them from the very beginning and some are even in their second generation.
Training is particularly important to us. We regularly offer different types of internships for young people in order to inspire them for the manifold tasks of the different job profiles as well as introducing our company as a prospective employer. Many of them will then start their apprenticeship with us as dairy laboratory technicians, milk technicians, food technicians or industrial mechanics.
We welcome trainees who have had very different previous occupations and who want to reorient themselves once again.
